Editorial Policy

Aim and Scope

Ciencia y Poder Aéreo is a biannual scientific journal, edited by the Graduate School of the Colombian Air Force. It is aimed to contribute to the dissemination of research results on the fields of Operational Safety and Aviation Logistics, Management and Strategy, and Technology and Innovation. The journal also seeks to contribute to Colombian technological and scientific development, generating new knowledge and creating opportunities for discussion and reflection.

Mission

Ciencia y Poder Aéreo is a communication means of research and technological development papers, and reflection and review articles. Proposals must be unpublished works with high academic quality and scientific rigor, focused on Operational Safety and Aviation Logistics, Management and Strategy, and Technology and Innovation issues. The journal is a meeting point for the Colombian and international scientific community around the aerospace sector, offering significant contributions to the fields of Social and Exact Sciences.

Vision

Ciencia y Poder Aéreo is considered as one of the main scientific communication means in the aerospace industry, both in the field of engineering and administration and within Social and Human Sciences. The journal will edit original and unpublished articles derived from academic, research and professional activities, with a high impact on science, technology, and innovation at the national, regional and international levels. The quality of submissions will generate an increase in the journal’s visibility indexes in different areas. Ciencia y Poder Aéreo will also be recognized in the academic, scientific and business environment of the national and international aerospace industry. The journal will be included in specialized databases and indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science.

Audience

Ciencia y Poder Aéreo is addressed to the national and international scientific community, students, professors, trainers, researchers, members of the Colombian Military Forces, and members of the aerospace industry.

Editorial Policy

In its editorial policy, Ciencia y Poder Aéreo includes a code of ethics on the responsibilities of authors and reviewers, and on the evaluation and the editorial process.

Classification of Scientific Articles

Ciencia y Poder Aéreo publishes research and innovation papers. Among these, the following are included:
1. Scientific and technological research paper. Presents the original results of research or technological development projects. It must include introduction, literature review, methodology, discussion, and conclusions. The length is 6,000 to 10,000 words, including references and appendices. The abstract must be 150-300 words and follow the same structure as the paper. A minimum of 20 peer-reviewed works is suggested to be included as references. A maximum of 6 keywords must be included.

2. Research-based reflection paper. “Original work that introduces research results from an analytical, interpretive or critical perspective of the author on a specific topic, using original sources of information” (Políticas Publindex 2014). This type of article does not follow a specific structure. However, they must contain an original theoretical or conceptual proposal that scientifically contributes to the areas of interest of the journal. The article must be clear, coherent, and follow a logical structure. The length is 6,000 to 10,000 words, including references. The summary should be 150-300 words and be clear about the context of the study, the research problem, the position of the author(s) and how it will be supported through valid arguments. A minimum of 20 peer-reviewed works is suggested to be included as references. A maximum of 6 keywords must be included.

3. Review paper. “Research-based work where the results of published or unpublished research on a field of study in science and technology are organized, analyzed, systematized, and integrated, to account for progress and trends in its development. It must present a comprehensive bibliographic review of at least 50 references” (Políticas Publindex 2014). Literature reviews, systematic reviews or meta-analyses will be accepted in this category. Abstracts will present the objective, methods (for systematic reviews or meta-analyses), results and conclusions of the study.

Manuscripts in Spanish, English and Portuguese will be published.

Ciencia y Poder Aéreo accepts the submission of papers whose subject areas match those described below:

The journal seeks to ensure that the topics addressed by authors are related to the aerospace industry and other related sectors, with a particular focus on aeronautical engineering.
