Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease-COPD embraces various chronic pulmonary diseases that cause limitations in lung airflow. COPD is now the fourth leading cause of death worldwide according to the World Health Organization, and more than 90 % of COPD deaths occur in low or middle-income countries. In Colombia it is the fourth cause of death, achieving 38 deaths per day in 2012. Consequently, Plan Decenal de Salud Pública –the ten-year government Health Plan– 2012-2022 establishes the interventions to be implemented regarding prevention, early detection, treatment and rehabilitation. This research aims to implement a IoT model within a cost-effective solution to monitor such disease through constant measurement of body temperature, oxygen saturation, and heart rate using low-cost sensors that allow to analyze and provide early prevention alarms. The outcomes allow us to assert that all measurements conducted with this developed IoT system remain within confidence intervals in the equipment taken as reference.Downloads
