This article presents the basic definition and concepts of Radiofrequency Identification Technology (RFID). Through it, the reader can understand both the components that make up these systems, as well as the benefits and restrictions over other existing atomatic identification technologies. Finally, we cite some applications of this techonology in different fields of aviation used during the last decade. For the future of commercial aviation and it´s daily use, it is vital that it be disseminated by airport managers and airlines, to make commercial air transportation a highly efficient system and therefore improve service quality throughout society.
